the micro.blog Discover tab is human. Is there a general description of the process? If a new human curator is on earth lboarded, what guidance are they given

Not sure what volume of posts appear on the micro.blog fire hose feed but assume it’s too much volume for a human?

Is there AI assistant ?

Any way to selectively post only certain timeline items to my blog

Dumb newbie micro.blog question: I want to follow @Mtt apparently I need to mention him in a post?

Semi-unrelated:

I really don’t want to clutter my micro.blog hosted blog ronkjeffries with casual posts such as this. Not sure it’s even possible. Is it weird that I’d like to use casual microbloging functionality, but then designate that certain posts as go to my blog?

or does this imply two micro.blog accounts? I hope not…

Always make new mistakes. (Ester Dyson)

I decided to start this blog (not my first…) on the interesting micro.blog platform, but the effort quickly (!) flamed out. I am 99 percent responsible but will admit that I never quite grasped how to make the system including the lovely Hugo-based blog engine used by micro.blog work for me.

I almost gave up, and was ready to move one when I realized a new micro.blog subscription plan was ridiculously cheap. I had been paying $5/month which is a tiny amount, but since I wasn’t using the system a total waste. They launched a teaser plan at $1/month or $10/year and I thought… it’s worth another try.

Next steps: dig in, understand the Micro.blog system (including the Hugo static blog generator, associated themes ,and probably some other stuff, all while doing some writing.

And make some new mistakes.

Miles to go before I sleep.

And so it begins.

With help from micro.blog founder Manton Reece (manton.org) my domain ronkjeffries.com now points to micro.blog. I have lots to learn but will among other things write about getting ready for end of life.

It happens.

Nothing specifically motivates this project. I do NOT have cancer or other diseases but at age 81, there are things I wish to share, mainly with family. Others are more than welcome to join the conversation.

Micro.blog allows me to “cross post” to social sites once I figure out the mechanics. So I expect to share this blog at ronkjeffries.mastodon.social and maybe elsewhere e.g. Threads or BlueSky.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
